Paris, June 12 - French solidarity associations, unions and political forces will demand today in this capital the immediate and unconditional end of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 60 years.
The Jacques- Rueff square on the Champ de Mars, in front of the emblematic Eiffel Tower, will be the scene of the mobilization, framed in a world day of actions on social and street networks to demand that Washington end its economic siege, commercial and financial against the island.
Organizations that support the Caribbean country and its Revolution confirmed their presence at the rally, such as France Cuba, Cuba Si France, Cuba Linda and Cuba Coopération; unions of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and the political forces of the Communist Party, Insubordinate France and the Pole for the Communist Renaissance.
In a statement, Cuba Si France, the association in charge of organizing the activity, urged the friends of the island, the democrats and the defenders of justice to attend the act of solidarity and condemnation of the blockade, which it described as genocidal.
He also stressed the urgency of putting pressure on Washington to end the suffering caused to the people of Cuba for more than six decades.
Flags, banners and slogans will adorn the mobilization here, which is part of the call launched by the Europe for Cuba platform to carry out a world day from June 6 to 13 to demand the lifting of the unilateral policy of the United States.
The actions seek to draw the attention of the planet in the face of a new vote in the UN General Assembly, on June 23, of a draft resolution on the need to end the blockade, an initiative similar to the one approved in that multilateral forum 28 times since 1992. (Text and photo: PL)
