Havana, Jul 8 - The Vice Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, Akif Özkaldi , and the ambassador of Cuba in that Eurasian country, Luis Amorós Núñez, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of agriculture and fishing on Wednesday .
According to a note on the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry , the representatives of both governments agreed in their statements that the agreement provides great opportunities to develop joint cooperation projects in the agricultural and fisheries sector, and offers numerous areas to continue expandingthis collaboration.
Amorós Núñez meant that the signing of the agreement demonstrates the good state of diplomatic ties between the two countries, which continue to grow, even in the complex global circumstances caused by COVID-19.
He stressed that it promotes cooperation in the areas of agriculture, plant production, plant health, animal production, animal health, fishing and the food industry, and explained that it is part of the efforts of both nations to take advantage of the existing potential in both countries.
For his part, the Turkish vice-minister said that the signing of the legal instrument should take bilateral agricultural relations to a higher level, and signified the interest in diversifying bilateral relations and increasing mutual contacts for the benefit of both countries.
He also stressed that Cuba has been one of the key partners in the Turkish strategy to expand relations with Latin America, and highlighted the aspiration to bring ties in the economic sphere to the high level of bilateral political relations.
After the ceremony, both representatives held a meeting, in which they discussed actions to promote the application of the agreement.(ACN)
