Washington, July 19 - The Surgeon General of the United States, Vivek Murthy, expressed concern about the rebound in the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, mainly among those who are not vaccinated.
“I am concerned about what is to come because we are seeing an increase in cases among the unvaccinated in particular. And while if you are vaccinated you are very well protected against hospitalization and death, sadly that is not true if you are not vaccinated,” Murthy said.
During an appearance on CNN's State of the Union show, he addressed the rise in COVID-19 infections in recent weeks, especially as the more contagious Delta variant spreads rapidly across the country.
Murthy pointed out that 99.5 percent of deaths in the country at this time are individuals who are not vaccinated, whose rate increased, while more are refusing to receive doses.
He pointed out that the fastest and most effective way to get out of the pandemic is to get vaccinated. (Text and photo: PL)
