Camagüey, Sep 3.- With a significant increase in the number of positive cases for the new coronavirus in pediatric ages, the complexity of the epidemiological situation in Camagüey persists, as revealed in the meeting of the Temporary Working Group corresponding to this Thursday.
At the meeting, led by Walter Simón Norris, member of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Doctor Carlos Morán Giraldo, provincial director of Public Health, announced that this population group doubled in August those infected in children under one year.
Meanwhile, the province accumulates in the last 15 days about 7,993 local cases, currently maintains 24 active transmission events and seven municipalities have an incidence rate above the provincial average.
Florida, Esmeralda, Vertientes, Sierra de Cubitas and the provincial capital continue to have a high level of contagion, while 37 patients were admitted to the intensive care units, of them 20 critical and 17 serious until the closing of this information.
The local authorities reported that they are working on pending cases to be admitted, among which there is a prevalence of vulnerable people who require priority attention.
Regarding the sanitary intervention with the Abdala vaccine, it was known that in the province there are around 80 thousand people to be immunized, a process that is progressing favorably with the vaccination of vulnerable patients and patients over 60 years of age.
On the other hand, Walter Simón Norris urged to reinforce control in the neighborhoods to check compliance with the restriction of citizen mobility, since a high level of circulation is perceived in some districts and areas of the city of Camagüey such as La Guernica and Madam Curie Avenue, among others.
