Paris, Sep 11 - The Cuban ambassador to France, Elio Rodríguez, reiterated here today multilateralism, solidarity, cooperation and the defense of peace as principles that guide the foreign policy of the island.
The diplomat gave an interview to the newspaper L'Humanité, regarding the celebration this weekend of the 85th edition of the Fiesta de L'Humanité , a forum in which those principles promoted by the Cuban Revolution find wide support.
Rodríguez addressed in his dialogue with journalist Gael De Santis, head of the publication's World service, the impact of the US blockade against the largest of the Antilles, an economic, commercial and financial siege intensified by the current administration in the White House.
He also pointed out Cuba's commitment to supporting, through medical brigades, dozens of countries facing the Covid-19 pandemic, a collaboration that reaches French territory, with the presence of health professionals in the department of overseas from Martinique.
Regarding this solidarity, the ambassador recognized the international campaign that promotes the delivery of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve medical brigades, an initiative with support among politicians, parliamentarians, trade unionists, friendship associations and citizens of France.
The Fiesta de L'Humanité started today with an unusual format, as a result of the impact of Covid-19, so its massive events from previous years are replaced by online activities, exhibitions, book sales, concerts and debates.
Traditionally, the forum constitutes a space for the defense of the just causes of the peoples, including the repudiation of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for six decades.
Rodríguez greeted the daily L'Humanité and its emblematic popular celebration, and confirmed the island's presence in next year's edition. (Prensa Latina)
