Cuban film team Estrés receives praise at the end of filming


 

Havana, Dec. 29.- Stress, the most recent feature film by Cuban filmmaker Marilyn Solaya, the same one from Wedding Dress, received praise on social networks for the success of filming, and the work of the technicians and artists.

Different publications and messages of gratitude were shared on these digital sites, where the director of the film pointed out the relevance of the team of women who participated in the filming.

The film stars Verónica Lynn, Héctor Noas and Patricio Wood.

In its luxury cast also appears one of the iconic couples of contemporary Cuban cinema, Isabel Santos and Luis Alberto García (Clandestinos/1988), as well as the actress María Isabel Díaz, remember her in A Bride for David (1985) in her role of Ofelia who, with her extra pounds, stole David's heart.

Díaz is also known for being called the first Cuban Almodóvar girl, for her performance alongside the Spanish Penélope Cruz in the film Volver. She was one of the protagonists of the series Vis a Vis (2015), on Spanish TV.

The other part of the cast of actors was made up of the established Aramís Delgado and Mario Limonta.

Solaya highlighted that each of them contributed dedication and professionalism to the story.

He also recognized the work of the technical team for its collaboration, for contributing with ideas and performance, which validates the experience of sharing in the project.

During the last months of 2023, the filming process for Estrés took place, a fiction feature film by Solaya, who presented Wedding Dress in the cinema in 2014.

It was her shocking debut which explored the story of the first person to undergo a sex change operation in Cuba in 1988.

The career of this director is not only recognized at the national level, but prestigious international awards include her resume, among them, the popularity award for her debut feature and an honorable mention at the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of La Havana.

With Wedding Dress she received public recognition at the Malaga Festival (Spain) and established herself in the Latin American film scene by taking her work to international competitions in Turin (Italy), Zurich (Switzerland) and Frankfurt (Germany).

Solaya was nominated for the Goya with this film in the category of Best Ibero-American Film and, according to specialists, Stress also promises and will further strengthen her career. (Text and photo: PL)
