Nicolás Maduro, US threats, Venezuela, national sovereignty

President Maduro appreciates national and international support in the face of U.S. threats

Venezuela, August 20 - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed his gratitude on Monday for the national and international support following the statements made by U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi regarding the increase in the reward for his capture.

“I sincerely appreciate the impressive reaction of solidarity and support both nationally and internationally… A popular movement, truly full of hope, turning indignation into hope,” said the president.

Similarly, the head of state asserted that the U.S. government’s war is not against him but against the people of Venezuela, which is compounded by the persecution and kidnapping of Venezuelan migrants.

“I thank you for your solidarity with this humble president, the first chavista president, committed to the legacy. The attack is not against Maduro; it is against the people,” he stated during a working meeting with governors and mayors of the Gran Polo Patriótico Simón Bolívar (GPPSB).

While emphasizing that these attacks also reflect the racism and discrimination of the North American empire against Latinos, Maduro added that more than 90 percent of Venezuelans reject any form of fascist, interventionist, or coup-oriented strategy against the country.

Maduro insisted that 80 percent of people “support the path of coexistence, harmony, tolerance, and work,” while more than 90 percent reject fascism and all of its interventionist and coup-related plans that aim to undermine the country’s sovereignty and integrity. “These are solid numbers,” he added.

He also reflected on the presence of U.S. military naval and air forces in the southern Caribbean, asserting that “we defend our seas, our skies, and our lands; we liberate them, we monitor them, and we patrol them ourselves. No empire will come to touch the sacred soil of Venezuela, nor should it touch the sacred ground of South America; no empire in the world.” (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
