French Communists Claim End of US Hostility to Cuba and Venezuela


Paris, April 11.- The French Communist Party (FCP) today demanded the cessation of US aggressiveness against Cuba, Venezuela and other countries, at a time when the international community is fighting a common enemy, Covid-19.

In a statement, the political organization called for the lifting of the siege imposed on Cuba, of the hidden war against Venezuela and of all economic sanctions regimes that deprive nations of the means to face a daily pandemic of new victims.

"The world should have a single priority: the defeat of the pandemic, the construction of Public Health systems at the height of the planet and the creation of a new model of economic, social and ecological development, in solidarity and protector of all peoples of the world ', he warned.

According to the PCF, in the current global scenario, a cease-fire is urgent, which is why it supported the call launched by the UN and called on governments, including the French, to suspend the sale of weapons to belligerent forces where the conflicts.

He also recalled the invitation of the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to a coordinated and multilateral response to Covid-19 and to mobilize 10% of the global Gross Domestic Product for the recovery from the health, social and economic crisis.

The PCF criticized the position of the US government to maintain its aggressiveness while abandoning its people, the most plagued by the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Not content with this, Trump went on to declare that if "the United States ends up with between 100,000 and 150,000 dead, we will have done a good job," he lamented. (Text and image: PL)
