China, Oct. 3.- With the stop in the Chinese city of Xiamen, the calendar of the 2025 Athletics Diamond League will begin on April 26, the most prestigious circuit of the beautiful sport each year.
World Athletics (WA) announced today that the new season will once again feature 14 one-day meetings, and that the final will be held in the Swiss city of Zurich, on August 27 and 28.
Athletes in each discipline will have between four and seven possible raids to add points that will ensure a place in the fight for the coveted gem.
As is tradition, a certain number of candidates will be admitted to this event depending on the event.
After the opening in Xiamen, the program will continue on Chinese soil with the call on May 3, although the stage between the cities of Shanghai and Xuzhou remains to be defined.
On the 16th of that month, Qatar will host the luminaries of world athletics, and nine days later, the activities will move to Rabat, Morocco.
The fight in the Italian capital, Rome, on June 6, will mark the start of the journey through European territory. Then it will be the turn of Oslo, Norway, (June 12), Stockholm, Sweden, (June 15) and Paris, France, (June 20), according to WA.
On July 5, that diamond event will be hosted by the American Eugene, before the stop in Monaco on the 11th of the same month.
The new meeting in London was reserved for July 19, after which there will be a break until August 16, the day on which the Polish city of Silesia will host the strong competition.
To close the regular calendar, Lausanne and Brussels were selected, hosting the tournament on August 20 and 22, respectively.
Once these stops are over, everything will be ready for the final in Zurich, Switzerland, where the diamonds will be competed for in each of the events called.
Last September, Cuban Leyanis Pérez took the prize in the final of the women's triple jump, held in Brussels, Belgium.
Pérez, silver medalist in the world indoor track event that was held in Glasgow, Scotland, in March of this year, reached the gem in his specialty with a record of 14.37 meters, to beat five rivals. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
