The French startup that is causing a stir in Artificial Intelligence

French startup H is making waves in its quest for artificial superintelligence (ASI), another buzzword for AI capable of surpassing human intelligence by manifesting cognitive abilities. Here's everything we know about the Paris-based company. H was formerly called Holistic and was founded by veterans of Google's DeepMind AI lab.

AI Agents H launched its first product this week: an AI agent for businesses and developers that will focus on tasks such as business process outsourcing, quality control, and robotic process automation. Agentic AI models don't just process information, they also try to plan and complete tasks and solve problems.

It's all about empowering people to take advantage of AI like never before. Runner H allows users to automate workflows, streamline tasks, and take over the web.

The product is already in the testing phase, the company reports in a blog post.H isn't the only company developing AI agents. Microsoft also announced new plans for its AI agent this week.

Anthropic is also developing tools for autonomous agents. But H claims its compact AI model outperforms Anthropic’s “Computer Use” (based on WebVoyager benchmarks), as well as Mistral and Meta’s models.

Who is in the company?

H was founded in late 2023, with a founding team consisting of Kantor, a researcher at Stanford University, and Laurent Sifre (CTO), a Google DeepMind alumnus. It also included other DeepMind alumni Karl Tuyls, Daan Wierstra, and Julien Perolat. However, they left last year due to what H called “operational differences.” H has about 50 employees in Paris and London.

How is H different from its competitors?

H doesn’t have as many parameters for its large language model (LLM), which is the number of network connections required for it to process text. H has about 2 billion parameters, while ChatGPT 3 has 175 billion. This makes H's technology less expensive for companies.

Who supports it?

H is supported by Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, Xavier Niel, founder of Iliad, Amazon, Samsung and Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, among others. Before even selling a single product, it had raised $220 million (210 million euros). (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
