Antonio Maceo, El Cacahual, Santiago de Cuba, battle, titan, glory, wounds

Antonio Maceo in Santiago de Cuba proud of the dream achieved

Antonio Maceo re-emerges in El Cacahual to return to his native Santiago de Cuba, leaving behind the pain and the restless battle of the Titan of Glory, who died at the age of 51 and with 27 wounds on his mortal body.

In the area of ??San Pedro, the fall in combat of the man whose exploits become the root of thunder, of the corpulent cedar who never sold his word, never perishes.

128 years after his death, General Antonio dusts off his spurs stuck in the earth, to ride like a good horseman towards the Hero City, to thank Fidel, who rests eternallyin the cemetery of Santa Ifigenia.

The former Liberation Army, witness of his epic battles, recognizes the worth of the intrepid mambí, who returns to the Heroic Santiago de Cuba, with his war scars, his redeeming sword, with his strength of action and thought to awaken in the sons of the land the spirit of continuity that the Homeland needs to preserve independence and sovereignty.

During his journey, he is distinguished by his bravery, tested over time, his steel chest, the purity of his character, the energy of his ideals.

Fidel orders the welcome in the symbolic Plaza where the Bronze Titan stands, escorted by 23 machetes as a symbol of the independence soul of Cuba.In that same Plaza of rallies and parades, of the eternal flame and imperishable memory of the equestrian figure, the countrymen greet him with perpetual reverence.

The firm steps of his horse Martinete hurry towards the heritage cemetery to meet the eldest Father, accompanied by the National Hero, the fighter for human emancipation, and his warrior Mariana.

Silence covers the victorious arrival of the Cuban mambí to Santa Ifigenia, a resting place for the homage and glory of great patriots in the history of Cuba.

José Martí, Fidel Castro, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Mariana Grajales, distinguish the Tribute to the immense Titan, back in Santiago to give thanks for the dream conquered.

Frank País García, a whirlwind of clandestinity, joins the reception together with other internationalist combatants who offered their lives in defense of the Homeland.

Fidel's voice travels through the sacred precinct, mixing with images of coffins in niches and ossuaries, of a country in silence and mourning, of families who have not calmed their pain for the death of their loved ones in distant lands.

The silence and the affliction that will never go away return, the heart aches, the love is eternalized as an infinite memory of the immortal Antonio Maceo who resurges in El Cacahual, to return to Eastern Cuba, to give THANKS for the mission accomplished.(Collaboration by MoraimaZulueta Gómez/Radio Grito de Baire)
