Art and awards mark the final days of Fiart 2024 in Cuba


Havana, Dec. 21. - The closing ceremony of the XXVI International Crafts Fair, Fiart 2024, will take place today at the capital's Pabexpo fairgrounds, with the presentation of awards in the Product and Stand categories.

At the annual event, which will conclude this Sunday, a total of 254 stands will gather, 17 from foreign exhibitors and 237 from national ones, of which 126 creators, 19 institutional, 2 national entities (Artex and Casa de las Américas) and 90 Forms of Non-State Management.

Footwear, textiles, household items, decorative pieces and goldsmithing are some of the proposals that attract the public under the motto Art, Utility and Craft.

This year, the Fiart agenda included fashion shows, a panel on the TelArte project, led by creators from the province of Villa Clara to bring us closer to an event that has promoted artisanal fashion in Cuba since the 1980s.

In addition, workshops were held on the appreciation of art and culture, doll making, weaving and papier maché, and the Recognition for Life's Work was given to five outstanding creators with extensive contributions to the field.

Meanwhile, the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists (ACAA, by its acronym in Spanish) exhibited works from all the awarded artistic manifestations in its national halls.

Organized by the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, the Fair annually brings together art and creativity, as well as an audience that enjoys its many attractions with the family. (Text and photo: PL)
