Washington, Feb 17.- A significant portion of citizens in the United States today express little or no confidence in President Donald Trump on specific social issues, according to a recent survey.
The YouGov poll revealed a lack of confidence in Trump on LGBT issues (51 percent), transgender issues (50 percent), the environment (49) and race relations (49).
However, the majority of Americans (52 percent) believe that the president has the ability to manage immigration, while 47 percent see him favorably when it comes to the economy, 45 percent when it comes to foreign policy and 43 percent when it comes to foreign trade.
The study, cited in local media, showed marked divisions between the parties regarding Trump's handling of several issues.
For a substantial part of Republicans, the president deserves great confidence in at least 20 issues on which it was asked, in particular they gave him favorable scores on the economy (87 percent), immigration (87) and foreign policy (84), although the figures were slightly lower than in November 2024, when he won the elections.
In contrast, Democrats overwhelmingly express a total lack of confidence in Trump on all issues, with a particularly low level of confidence in his ability to manage race relations and LGBT issues.
When he took office on January 20, Trump took strong measures against illegal immigration, including new policies to secure the southern border.
One of his first executive orders as the 47th President was to declare a national emergency; send additional troops to the area; repeal applications such as CBP One from the era of his predecessor Joe Biden, which allowed asylum applications; eliminate birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants and deportations.
On the other hand, Trump dismantled Biden's energy policies, which deals a blow to environmental safeguards, because he gave the green light to the fossil fuel sector. (Text and Photo: PL)
