Havana, May 1st. - The leader of the Cuban Revolution, army general Raúl Castro, and the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today preside over the popular parade in the capital Plaza de la Revolución for International Workers' Day.
Thousands of people, carrying flags, banners and fabrics alluding to date and supporting the Cuban revolutionary process, thus respond to the call of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) to participate this year in the march on May 1.
The return to the traditional parade in the Plaza de la Revolución José Martí, interrupted by the pandemic of Covid 19, dresses the Cuban celebration, due to the symbolism of the site, where exactly 25 years ago - in 2000-, the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, formulated the concept of Revolution.
In front of the country's top leaders, tens of thousands of Havana’s citizens and more than a thousand foreign guests will express their rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, imposed by the United States for more than six decades, which prevents the development of the country and affects the lives of millions of Cubans.
Under the communique campaign "For Cuba together we create ," the CTC promoted popular attendance at the marches, in a more show of support for the revolutionary process and hopes to be massive in all squares of the country.
In the days leading up to the ephemeral, regular and virtual communication spaces disseminated life stories of workers and union leaders, promotional capsules, television and radio spots, as well as interviews with representatives of various guilds who testified to the mobilizing force of the workers.
As an expression of global support for Cuba, some 1,000 international delegates from more than 30 countries representing a hundred trade union organizations on the five continents will march with the people and condemn the economic, commercial and financial siege of the White House, which prevents the full development of the country's productive forces.
