Venezuela identifies those responsible for the suspension of the Summit of the Americas

Moscow, Nov 6. - The decision to postpone the Summit of the Americas was made on the instructions of US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in order to avoid criticism towards the North American country, amid disagreements over Washington's military threat in the Caribbean region, stated Venezuela's Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.

"It was the same warlord, that is, Marco Rubio [...], who gave the order to the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, to suspend the Summit of the Americas that was going to be held in that country in the first days of December, because the climate does not favor them," Cabello declared on Wednesday on his program "Con el mazo dando" (Hitting with the Mallet).

In this sense, he explained that, despite Washington having "tried to blackmail the entire region into joining them in their war" against Caracas, "many countries were going to use this summit as a platform to denounce the unjustified US military deployment in the Caribbean and the extrajudicial killings."

Likewise, he warned that the US Secretary of State has "an ace up his sleeve" that he could carry out at the end of this month. "Rubio is working on a false flag operation […] that aims to increase tensions between the US and Venezuela, which is why it wasn't in his best interest for the summit to take place," he maintained.

On the other hand, Cabello assured that both Rubio, the US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, and the National Security Advisor, Stephen Miller, have President Donald Trump "more tangled than an octopus fight" and are responsible for causing a "disaster" in the North American country.

"These three guys are the ones pushing Trump into the abyss. Because, among other things, they are also responsible for much of the disaster that Americans are experiencing," he asserted.

On Tuesday, the Government of the Dominican Republic announced that it had decided to postpone the hosting of the Summit of the Americas until 2026 by "consensus" with its closest partners, including the US, following a "careful analysis of the situation in the region."

The summit had been heavily criticized after the Dominican Republic excluded Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua from the event, amid escalating tensions with the US over attacks against alleged narcotics ships in the Caribbean, which have extended into the Pacific. In response, the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced he would not attend the meeting.

Likewise, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, also stated she would not attend the summit, after expressing her disagreement with the exclusive policy of the meeting.

The withdrawals prior to the event joined a high-voltage political atmosphere due to Washington's threatening military presence. The US has not only deployed marines but has made extrajudicial executions a regular occurrence in opaque operations in Caribbean waters and, more recently, also in the Pacific.
