Matanzas, August 20 - In a few months, this city will have the fourth solar photovoltaic park in the region, currently undergoing earthworks in the locality of Guanábana.
Using technology similar to that of the existing parks in Jovellanos and Martí, the generation unit will contribute 21.8 megawatts to the national electricity grid and is being developed with a budget exceeding 16 million dollars.
The third park to join the national grid is located in the municipality of Colón, where progress is being made in the wiring and installation of the inverters, allowing it to become operational before the end of the year.
Thus, without considering the contributions from solar photovoltaic parks established in previous years in Cárdenas, the province of Matanzas could close the year with an installed renewable energy capacity exceeding 65 megawatts. (Text and photo: Cubasí)
