Camagüey, Jul 27.- The XXXII Juan Rius Rivera Solidarity with Cuba Brigade from Puerto Rico arrived this Thursday afternoon in the city of Camagüey, where it plans to visit several centers of social interest in the demarcation starting this Friday.

Upon their arrival at the Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz Park, the friends sang the notes of the anthems of both countries and placed a wreath before the equestrian statue of El Mayor erected on that site.

The reception was attended by provincial officials of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government, the delegate of the Camagüey branch of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Eduardo Almanza González, and other specialists from that institution.

The brigade will remain in the territory for three days and will carry out exchanges with different entities in the health sector such as the Ignacio Agramonte polyclinic, located in the Garrido district, one of the nine that the main municipality has, as well as in the Provincial Pediatric Hospital Dr. Eduardo Agramonte Pina.

Another of the sites that they will visit will be the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center of Camagüey and tonight the Folkloric Ballet of the province will offer a show for those friends of the Island.

Milagro Rivera Pérez, president of the Cuba-Puerto Rico Solidarity Committee, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome while giving her appreciation of the national act for the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, in Santiago de Cuba.

The Puerto Rican with a rebellious and sovereign spirit said that “this anniversary was different and very exciting. It took a total turn from what one expected, due to the technology that was used. There we were a group of foreigners supporting the people of Santiago and Cuba, and rejecting the criminal measures that the United States imposes against the nation”.

During the interview with different media outlets, she quoted some words from Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez when he exchanged with the brigade in Santiago de Cuba, and said "with solidarity we will overcome the obstacles."

"We cannot hide it, Puerto Rico has been an example of the persecution by federal agencies for visiting Cuba, since last year more than 70 brigade members were intervened when trying to criminalize their solidarity and visits to the Caribbean island," added the activist.

The XXXII Juan Rius Rivera Solidarity with Cuba Brigade is made up of a heterogeneous group of members of Puerto Rican society and today reinforces its ties of friendship and commitment to just causes, support for the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of United States and the search for the independence and sovereignty of Puerto Rico.
