Camagüey, Sep 26.- Since this week, the medical discharges of children and patients from the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital and the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital, in this city, have the support of private transporters known as the Asphalt Warriors.
This service is free and requires prior coordination with the management of the healthcare centers. It is carried out on Tuesdays at the Pediatric Hospital and on Wednesdays at the Provincial Hospital. For other patients who need transfer on a different day of the week, it must be organized.
More than sixty electric tricycle taxi drivers carry out this social work which has been very well received by that community.
During the collection this Tuesday at the Pediatric Hospital, several mothers expressed their gratitude, highlighting that these young people are an example to follow, prioritizing values ??and the desire to help over monetary issues.
In addition to this service, the Asphalt Warriors also get involved in other solidarity actions, such as donations in rooms and selfless help that are part of their daily routine.
This Wednesday, around twenty of them donated blood, an altruistic gesture that also included free transportation for all the passengers they met on their way, from Cuba Street to the Provincial Blood Bank.
These initiatives that are carried out in the early hours of the morning help to alleviate the limitations of public transportation and reflect the social commitment of this group who also fulfill responsibilities in different sectors of the economy, among them is Dalexis Mola Moisés, the only woman on the team who works in the Provincial Radio Directorate.
