Seven affected infants in massive accident discharged from medical care

Camagüey, Jan 12.- The 7 children transferred to the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital due to injuries in the massive accident, Friday, January 10, were discharged this Sunday, after a systematic medical evaluation.

According to Dr. Andrei Rodríguez Navarro, director of the aforementioned care center, the children arrived at the hospital with minor injuries and there they received immediate attention from all the staff, both the children and their families and companions.

He also explained that upon arrival two of them were transferred to the intermediate room, not because of the severity of their injuries but because of the need to carry out more exhaustive studies that showed normal results in both children, ages 1 and 2, respectively.

"The children leave today for their provinces in optimal conditions, without follow-up treatments, since they do not require it," said Rodríguez Navarro, who highlighted the speed of doctors and nurses who acted immediately with accurate evaluations and diagnoses.

He also recognized that, even in the current economic conditions of the country, there was availability of human and material resources for the proper medical care of the affected children.

Mercy Romero Díaz, mother of little Marlon, said with emotion how in the moment of great tension, the doctors were attentive to the health of both, also ensuring the emotional well-being of both in the difficult situation caused by the accident.

Marlon, at just 7 years old with that innocence that distinguishes childhood, recounted his arrival at the hospital and only with pain the pricks of the needles for the placement of the intravenous serum.

As a farewell gift came the confections from the Carsueños Project, through the Provincial Director of Culture Kenny Ortigas Guerrero, stuffed animals from colorful characters to cars.

A sign that doctors are truly our heroes in white coats were the events experienced this January 10, as they have not stopped working and accompanying the injured, reporting favorable results that are reflected today in the discharge status of more than 40 people affected in the incident.
