Havana, Mar 21.- With the presence of Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, the annual work meeting of the Ministry of Transportation (MITRANS) was held, in which managers of the system analyzed the main goals for 2023, the year that aims to mark the beginning of recovery in the sector.
Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, specified that in the current calendar they are called to achieve the integration and support of all the actors in the industry in pursuit of a better service to the people.
Rodríguez Dávila reported that among the objectives proposed by the organization for 2023 are to improve the quality of passenger transportation with compliance with the plans of the main services, taxis, school, urban, interurban, workers and rural; consolidate the support of state cars for the transfer of the population, and advance in the regulation and control of prices.
During the meeting, Marrero Cruz expressed that 2023 requires doing different things, since it would be a mistake to continue implementing the work systems and methods of previous years, taking into account that the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and the crisis persist. world.
In his analysis, the Head of Government pointed out that it is urgent to eliminate self-blocking and focus on how to put an end, with one's own efforts, to the daily insufficiencies and limitations.
He recognized the work of the managers and workers who, accompanied by the Union, continue to be dedicated to improving Transportation indicators, an essential activity for the economy of the Antillean nation.
Marrero Cruz specified the importance of adequately implementing the support of the state transport means for the transfer of the population, and informed that the studies on the prices of passenger transportation will continue.
According to the Prime Minister, a vital issue in the sector is to increase science and innovation projects with a view to reducing imports of parts and pieces, while he urged greater attention from port workers for the social order they defend.
Luis Ladrón de Guevara, director of Passenger Transportation for Mitrans, called for attacking subjective problems, such as actions of indiscipline and mistreatment that diminish the quality of services to the people, and emphasized the need to raise awareness among state drivers to help to the transfer of the Cubans.
On the other hand, Minister Rodríguez Dávila commented that they are working to comply with the cargo transportation plans, in order to ensure the transfer of the regulated family basket and other prioritized products, the transportation by rail of fuels and the cabotage of cement for the eastern provinces.
Taking as a premise that the sector during this year obtains better indicators than in 2022, MITRANS seeks to begin the gradual recovery of infrastructures and means in all branches of transport through the implementation of a closed financing scheme, start contracting of parts and pieces for the recovery of the paralyzed media, and promote international cooperation and foreign investment.
In the balance sheet, the need to stop road deterioration came to light, and to this end the system prioritizes investments in the National Highway, the Central Highway, the North and South Circuits, the La Farola Viaduct and roads that link the provinces, as well as those linked to the Turquino Plan.
The highest representatives of the Mitrans business groups and other of its structures presented the main results of the previous calendar, which was marked by serious economic limitations, parts and pieces, and fuel, essential to ensure the vitality of transportation in Cuba.
