Nicaragua-Russia relations at their prime, says minister

Managua, Jun 23.- Relations between Nicaragua and Russia are at their prime and move from technological to commercial fields, the Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Iván Acosta, assured here.

Through an interview offered to the Revista en Vivo program of Channel 4, the headline expressed that the links between the two countries point to where international economic development is going in the next 30 years.

The official referred to the meeting of the intergovernmental mixed commission recently held in the Eurasian nation and stated that highly relevant issues for his country were addressed.

"That is where the relationship is seen, one thing is what we can see on paper, and another is where the issues of scientific-technical exchange, trade and investment point," he said.

Acosta highlighted the importance of bilateral ties, since several projects were put into practice with them, such as the inauguration, in this capital, of the Mechnikov Latin American Institute of Biotechnology, where vaccines in high demand for the region and the world are produced.

Likewise, he commented that, at the meeting of co-chairs of the aforementioned commission, they also discussed financing for public transport to improve the units, and mentioned the signing of an approved contract to bring more buses to Nicaragua in 2024.

In the same way, he argued about working on nuclear energy issues for peaceful purposes, for which they have planned an investment program in a radiology hospital, mainly for issues related to oncology.

"So, there are countless areas in which work is being done, there is a lot of time invested in it and cooperation relations between States are advancing at their normal pace," he stressed.

On the other hand, he pointed out that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union have not achieved their objectives with Russia, which is evidenced in the recently concluded International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg.

He alluded to the de-dollarization of the economy and how in recent months there has been a change in behavior in economic exchanges with transactions in national currencies, which poses a loss of hegemony of the US dollar. (Text and photo: PL)
