havana, Sep 19.- The Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal, ratified Cuba's commitment to science, research and development in the field of health, despite the economic challenges it faces.

The official is part of the Cuban delegation that accompanies President Miguel Díaz-Canel in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly where, he said, they will share important priorities with the international community.

Despite the economic challenges facing the country, we have demonstrated our ability to provide quality medical care to our people, Portal highlighted on the Ministry of Public Health website.

He highlighted that the country has invested in the training of highly qualified health professionals and has developed medicines and vaccines that benefited millions of people around the world.

In this important week at the United Nations General Assembly, we reiterate our commitment to using science, technology and innovation as fundamental tools to address global health challenges, he noted.

We advocate for greater international cooperation in medical research, knowledge exchange and technology transfer, to ensure that everyone has equitable access to quality medical care, Portal stressed. (Text and photo: PL)
