Palestine highlights vote at United Nations in favor of truce in Gaza

Ramallah, Oct 28.- Palestine thanked the countries that voted in favor of a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly that advocates for a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, under Israeli bombing for 21 days.

Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said in a statement that the initiative confirms that the world is overwhelmingly on the side of the Palestinian people.

It highlighted that the vote of 120 nations in favor of the project shows international rejection of Israeli aggression.

Rudeina stressed that most countries agree with the Palestinian position of promoting a dialogue process that leads to the establishment of a lasting and comprehensive peace.

To achieve this, it is necessary to end the occupation and create an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, it assured.

Since the beginning of the current wave of violence in the region, more than 7,500 Palestinians have died in the occupied territories, the vast majority of them in the coastal enclave.

Also in the neighboring nation, some 1,400 Israelis and foreigners died, according to official data. (PL) (Photo taken from the Internet)
