
Paris, Nov 8.- Cuba ratified to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the voice of its Minister of Education, Naima Ariatne Trujillo, the commitment to the global materialization of the objective of the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development linked to inclusive education.
The head of the Cuban delegation to the 42nd General Conference of the organization, a forum inaugurated in the morning in this capital, was received at the headquarters of the multilateral entity by its deputy director general for Education, Stefania Giannini, a meeting that consolidated bilateral ties.
The fourth objective of the Agenda adopted by the United Nations in 2015 seeks to guarantee inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, a goal that the island considers a priority and in which its achievements and solidarity have worldwide recognition.
Trujillo and Giannini agreed on the importance of international cooperation in achieving the ambitious objective.
At the meeting, the minister was accompanied by the ambassador of the Antillean nation to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel.
Earlier, in dialogue with Prensa Latina, the Minister of Education expressed her expectations that the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO, scheduled until November 22, will contribute to peace from the areas of the organization, which are education, science, culture and communication.
Likewise, she announced that Cuba will have an active participation in the commissions and forums convened, in which it will share its experiences.
Trujillo highlighted the coincidence in the principles and values ??promoted by UNESCO and those defended and strengthened by the Cuban social model. (Text and photo: PL)
