Quito, Nov 10.- Ecuadorians in solidarity with Cuba joined the Cuba Vive y Resiste campaign and began collecting signatures to demand that the United States end the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island.
During a meeting in the city of Guayaquil, the Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba and the Frente Unidad para Vencer announced the beginning of the collection of the rubrics, with which they will also demand that the North American government exclude the Caribbean nation from the unilateral list of States sponsoring terrorism.
Representatives of union, cultural and student organizations were present at the event and will join the collection of signatures in support of the Cuban people.
In a few words of gratitude, the Cuban ambassador to Ecuador, Basilio Gutiérrez, also referred to his country's resistance to the measures of economic asphyxiation, with which Washington intends to subdue the Cubans.
He highlighted how despite this unilateral siege - recently rejected at the United Nations by 187 States - Cuba is reaping achievements and looking for alternatives to maintain the conquests of its Revolution.
The Cuba lives and resists campaign, presented by the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes, began in August at the international level.
The goal is to reach more than a million signatures to demand that the White House exclude alleged promoters of terrorism from Cuba and unconditionally eliminate the blockade, a policy established more than 60 years ago. (Text and photo: PL)
