International forum on Native Cultures in Cuba


Havana, March 27.- The Casa de las Américas institution convenes in Cuba the VI International Colloquium of Studies on Native American Cultures, which will take place from October 15 to 18, 2024.

The forum will be dedicated to the topic Counterhegemonic Alternatives from the sciences and native knowledge, according to the headquarters.

The edition seeks to encourage reflection on the historical conditions that explain the exclusion of knowledge generated from original cultures and, above all, to make visible the resistance strategies that make it possible for this counterhegemonic knowledge to remain and be reproduced to this day.

Participants will be able to address these issues from different perspectives and also other aspects related to the current economic, political, social and cultural reality of the indigenous peoples of America.

Furthermore, their actions against the mechanisms that try to annihilate their worldviews, and the particular way in which these are articulated in the present with communication, artistic creation, activism and leadership.

Casa de las Américas states that it specially invites speakers who will give an account of their realities from the communities themselves.
