Parliamentarians from France and Cuba agree to support bilateral cooperation


Paris, March 29.- The president of the France-Caribbean Friendship Group of the Senate, Hélène Conway-Mouret, received here today the vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Ana María Mari Machado, a meeting in which they agreed to support bilateral cooperation.

At the headquarters of the upper house, the Luxembourg Palace, the member of the Socialist, Ecologist and Republican Group of that body spoke about various topics with the visiting delegation, also made up of deputies Estela Cristina Luna, president of the Health Commission and Sport.

It is also made up of Miguel Enrique Charbonet, vice president of the person in charge of Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication.

The strengthening of ties between Paris and Havana and the promotion of dynamic decentralized cooperation stood out in the exchanges of criteria.

Regarding the meeting on her third and last day of parliamentary work in this capital, Mari Machado described the meeting as fraternal, honest and fruitful.

“We agreed to work together to strengthen and energize our relations,” stressed the vice president of the Council of State of the Island.

The day before, the Cuban delegation and the ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, spoke with the president of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly, Jean-Louis Bourlanges, and with members of the France-Cuba Friendship Group in the lower house, headed by André Chassaigne.

During her stay in Paris, Mari Machado and the deputies accompanying her addressed the challenges and reality of the Antillean nation in the context imposed by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, and shared details of the implementation of the legislative schedule derived from the Constitution approved in 2019.
