Bauta, Artemisa, April 14.- As we enter the countryside, at the point of dawn, more than a hundred cadres and workers of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba began this Sunday with voluntary work in areas of Company 16 of April, to commemorate the declaration of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution, that day in 1961.
Some brought young daughters and sons, who, in their own way, participated in the planting, weeding or harvesting of sweet potatoes, in the planting of cassava or in the cleaning of corn, as did cadres and workers of the National Committee of the UJC and colleagues from other entities.
Along with them were the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda, and other members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee.
The presence of a small group of girls and boys was something great for Ernesto Olivera Podadera, a worker in the organization's business system. He even thought about bringing the little one from home, but he didn't decide. Next time, she will come with him, she says.
With his 56 years of life, he does not remember how many “red Sundays” he attended, there were many, countless; He learned of his courage as a child, when his mother took him by hand to the mobilization.
“Volunteer work is not something that should be surprising, it is part of normality; At least from our generation, who grew up seeing the old woman coming and going from them. I was educated in that,” she states.
“And this, he adds, we have to do, because in addition to its direct effects, because of what we can contribute, it teaches, it trains you, it helps you understand that those who work in agriculture sacrifice a lot, in addition, it has an important component of socialization with your colleagues at the workplace.”
“This type of activity, summarized Olivera Podadera, is an act of detachment, because on your day of rest, taking care of the family and other issues, you decide to participate, because they are important things that we have to do for our own good and the of others".
Geinelys González Pradera is 24 years old, she is a medium technician in document management, she has been working since 2020 in areas of the archives of the Central Committee. Almost every week she and her colleagues come to give their contribution in the self-sufficiency areas of the organization.
“I always went with my mother to volunteer work, and now I see how young people dedicate themselves to this and with them how we are growing,” she says.
For Eduardo Escandel Santana, 34 years old, a law graduate and worker in the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee, in the current situation, where the food issue is fundamental, voluntary work in the fields is the most important thing, because Agricultural production, he explains, has to be the focus of attention for all of us who can contribute.
