Cuban deputies analyze housing policy

Havana, April 23.- Deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (parliament) analyzed the status of compliance with the housing policy, approved in 2018.

The legislators, belonging to the Industry, Construction and Energy Commission, debated with experts about the development prospects of housing construction in the Caribbean nation, as well as the initiatives and challenges of the strategy to improve the country's housing fund.

The president of the Commission, Magda Pérez, highlighted the responsibility of the Ministry of Construction in these issues, which she stressed are a priority and have the permanent attention of the legislative body, as reported by the Cuban Parliament on its website.

For her part, the national director of Housing, Delilah Díaz, explained that the housing policy on the island contains a program to recover the housing deficit in 10 years.

She stressed that the law demonstrates the political will of the State to move forward based on the constitutional precept of promoting the right of all people to adequate housing and a safe and healthy habitat.

The directive explained that at the end of March, 2,106 properties, 137 basic housing cells were completed in the country, and 5,582 impacts from weather events were resolved.

Díaz emphasized the importance of the strategy of local production of construction materials, aimed at meeting the needs in the works and in pursuit of greater autonomy in this area. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
