Ramala, Dec 11. - The world today faces a real and serious test in the defense of the right of the inhabitants of Gaza and the West Bank to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign state, Palestinian leader Ahmed Majdalani said.
The member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization denounced in a statement the continuing Israeli violations, which he described as crimes against humanity.
The military of that country is engaged in ethnic cleansing against our people, removing their freedom and threatening their right to a safe life through murder and siege, the destruction of homes, confiscation of land and colonization, he stressed.
He also criticized collective punishments against the civilian population and called on the world to take firm positions against that nation to force it to stop its attacks in the Palestinian territories.
The international community must fulfil the commitments embodied in the global treaties and conventions to end the occupation, he stressed.
He considered that not allowing the self-determination of his people amounts to a failure of the world to effectively implement human rights principles.
"We call on all the free peoples of the world and lovers of freedom, justice and peace, Governments and institutions to intensify their efforts and work in that regard," he said.
Majdalani urged to sit Israel’s leaders on the bench of the defendants to be held accountable for their actions. (Text and photo: PL)
