Havana, Jan 30.- The IV Varadero Parachute Friendship Cup 2025, a landing precision competition, began in the beautiful Matanzas’s spa.
The event, organized by the Cuba Aviation Club and the Cuban Federation of Sport Parachuting, takes place until next February 2 on the old track of the old airport of Varadero.
Participants compete in the categories of teams and individual in both sexes and represent Italy, Montenegro, Russia, Czech Republic and Cuba.
Among the visitors, the best known is the Italian Claudio Borin, world champion in Tanay 2024, contest welcomed by Russia.
The hosts have two squads led by the winners of the medals in Varadero 2024. Luis Mario Araujo, gold in the individual male modality with an accuracy of 0.04 cm, Raúl Borges Rodríguez, silver with 0.07 cm, and Marisol Maldonado, gold in the female version with 0.24 cm.
The competition has eight classification rounds and a semifinal for each sex. The first five classified of each category will go directly to the final round.
The judges panel is made up of national and foreign experts duly enabled, and a sponge mattress with WECKBECKER electronic measurement system will be used.
The organizers expect this edition to be a resounding success and that it contributes to the development of paratrooper in Cuba and in the world. (Text and photo: Jit)
