Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Camaguey, Jan 31.- The agro-industrial company Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, located in the municipality of the same name, began the harvest 2024-2025 in the province of Camaguey.

Ivan del Sol Horta, administrator of the entity, reported that the beginning of the contest is delayed just over a month from the expected date. However, the collective has pledged to meet the target of more than 23,000 tons of sugar planned for the basic-supply rationing in the territory.

The industry known as the Camagüey’s clock will be supplied with raw materials from its own areas and neighboring plants: Brazil, in Esmeralda; Argentina, in Florida; and Panama, in Vertientes, with the aim of operating efficiently.

Despite current difficulties in supplying parts and resources during the recent harvest test, the workers highlighted the quality of maintenance carried out in key areas such as the mill, the boiler house and the steam generation, as noted by Ibrain Guzmán Gómez, head of maintenance.

To correct the deficiencies of the previous harvest, intensive work has been done to improve the water supply, which had been a critical problem, as well as in the replacement of ceiling and pipes on the gear train of mill Two, among other large-scale actions.

One of the objectives of the collective during this harvest is to contribute to the National Electricity System (SEN) with approximately three megawatts per hour in peak hours during the industrial process.

The training of the workforce with 50 per cent of young people is one of the priorities for improving production efficiency, reflecting the workers' commitment to the country's economy and the region.

Thus, the sugar harvest in the province of Camaguey has begun with the activation of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes industry that plans to hold a hundred days in this contest. (Text and photos: Zenia Donet García/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
