Palestine, February 20. - The Israeli regime continues to retain the bodies of 665 Palestinian martyrs in cemeteries and morgues, reveals a Palestinian institution.
The National Campaign for the Recovery of the Bodies of Martyrs revealed that some of these bodies have been in the hands of the Israelis for a long time, dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, while the most recent cases include the martyrs of the Al-Fariah refugee camp, killed on Wednesday night.
The institution also stressed that this figure does not include the martyrs of the Gaza Strip, since the information blockade imposed by the Israeli regime prevents knowing exactly how many bodies have been held after Israel's indiscriminate war on the coastal enclave.
Policy of collective punishment and dehumanization
Hebrew sources reported that more than 1,500 Palestinian martyrs remain detained at the Sde Teiman military base, a fact that is evidence of the systematic policy of collective punishment applied by Israel against Palestinians and their families.
The families of the martyrs live in incessant anguish, deprived of the fundamental right to bury their loved ones with dignity. For years, mothers, fathers and children have struggled to recover the remains of their relatives, facing the indifference of the Israeli authorities and the cruel strategy of dispossession and humiliation that seeks to break the Palestinian spirit of resistance.
Despite mounting international pressure, Israel continues to defy calls for justice, maintaining its policy of retaining bodies as a weapon of intimidation and retaliation. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
