Syria, February 27. - Two minors died today due to the explosion of a projectile left over from the war, in the governorate of Deraa, in the south of this Levantine nation.
The Syrian Civil Defense reported on its Facebook page that the two fatalities are brothers and that another was injured by the explosion that occurred in the agricultural lands of the town of Ankhel.
Last Friday, one person died from a mine explosion in the village of Jenin, in the same province of Deraa.
From December 2024 to the present, more than 430 deaths and injuries were recorded due to the explosion of explosive devices in Syria, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The Office indicated that almost a third of the victims are children while farmers and shepherds are among the most affected groups.
It explained that since January 2025, more than 60 people have perished and 90 have been injured, many while cultivating their land or herding animals.
