Moscow, April 11. - The White House has confirmed to CNBC that United States (US) tariffs on imports from China now reach 145 percent (%).
It is reported that US President Donald Trump's latest order increased tariffs on Beijing to 125 percent from 84 percent, but this is in addition to a 20 percent fentanyl-related tariff that the president previously imposed on China.
Last Wednesday, Trump announced massive reciprocal tariffs against US trading partners. Among the most affected was China, with a 34% tariff. In response, the Chinese government declared that it will impose additional tariffs of 34 percent on all imports from the United States starting April 10.
This Monday, the US president reacted by announcing additional tariffs of 50 percent on the Asian giant if Beijing does not back down on its countermeasures. In this way, customs rates on products from China increased to 104%.
Beijing announced this Wednesday that, in response, it would adjust the additional tariff rate on goods imported from the United States, raising it to 84%.
Given this, Trump raised taxes on imports from the Asian nation to 125%, alleging the lack of respect that China has shown towards world markets. (Text and photo: RT)
