Palestinian Civil Defense, Israeli Armed Forces (IDF), hospitals, health, Gaza Strip

Israeli strategy to destroy Gaza's health sector denounced

Ramallah, April 14. - The Palestinian Civil Defense today accused the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) of deliberately attacking hospitals and the health sector in the Gaza Strip.

In statements to the press, the director of medical supplies of that organization, Muhammad Al-Mughair, condemned the systematic Israeli bombings against these facilities in the coastal enclave.

He also denounced the IDF blockade of the coastal enclave since March 2, which prevents the entry of vital supplies such as food, medicine, fuel, and drinking water.

In the early hours of yesterday, IDF planes attacked the Baptist Hospital, located in Gaza City, which provoked a wave of criticism from the international community and numerous UN agencies.

Raafat Al-Majdalawi, director general of the Health and Community of Return Association in Gaza, also criticized the Israeli campaign to destroy medical facilities.

The goal is to exacerbate the tragic conditions in the Strip, Al-Majdalawi denounced in statements to the Qatari television station Al Jazeera.

The activist estimated that more than 60 percent of hospitals and 95 percent of primary health care centers in the territory have been destroyed by military incursions since October 2023.

For its part, the Gaza Government Press Office published a list of 36 hospitals that were attacked by Israel since that date, when the new cycle of violence began.

The list includes the Al-Shifa and Nasser medical complexes, as well as the Abu Youssef Al-Najjar, Indonesia, Kamal Adwan, Baptist, Al-Awda, Al-Quds, Al-Rantisi, Al-Nasr Children's, and Ophthalmology hospitals, among others. (Text and photo: PL)
