United Nations, Jan 6. - The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed his dismay over the massive military aggression launched last Saturday against Venezuelan territory, warning that the operation violates a fundamental principle of international law.
“States must not use force to pursue territorial claims or political demands. The future of Venezuela must be decided by its people,” he stated on his X account.
Aligning with this position, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, expressed being “deeply alarmed” by the attacks and by the disregard for international norms.
