Martinez earns his fifth save, while Moinelo shows off his strikeout power in Japan


Japan, April 16th. - Cuban pitchers Raidel Martínez and Liván Moinelo, both from Pinar del Río, delivered fruitful performances with their respective teams today in the 2025 Japan Professional Baseball League.

Martinez earned his fifth save of the season, allowing no hits or runs in an inning of relief as part of the Yomiuri Giants' 1-0 win over the DeNA Stars.

At the Tokyo Dome, and in the Central League, the lanky right-hander maintained his ERA at 0.00 ERA, as in seven games in which he has worked he has exhibited 6.2 innings with just one hit allowed, without allowing any runs.

And at the Mizuho Pay Pay Dome in Fukuoka, left-hander Moinelo got a no-decision after allowing one run and three hits in seven complete innings. It happened in the SoftBank Hawks' 1-2 loss to the Rakuten Eagles, in 10 innings.

In a Pacific League game, Moinelo struck out 12 batters and walked just one, maintaining his season record of two wins without a loss and improving his ERA to 0.95. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
