Foreign Minister evokes Cuban diplomats who were victims of terrorism

Havana, Apr 22. - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, today evoked two diplomats who died as a result of an attack against the embassy of the Caribbean country in Portugal.

We remember Adriana Corcho and Efrén Monteagudo, victims of a cowardly and vile terrorist attack against the Cuban embassy in Portugal, the Foreign Minister wrote on the social network X.

Our revolutionary diplomacy will remain firm in defense of the Homeland, against those who insist on hatred and terrorism to destroy the Revolution, Rodríguez declared on the platform itself.

Adriana Corcho Calleja and Efrén Monteagudo Rodríguez lost their lives at number 19, Fontes Pereira de Melo Avenue, in Lisbon, on April 22, 1976.

That day, six kilograms of explosives caused extensive damage to the facility that occupied the fifth and sixth floors of the building, and four other members of the diplomatic mission were also injured.

According to testimonies, a crowd of Portuguese supported the Cubans and rejected the aggression with shouts of Down with imperialism! and "Down with the CIA!" and cheers for the Cuban Revolution. (Text and photo: PL)
