Donation from Martinique arrives in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, Dec 12.- A shipment of 14.5 tons of medicines, food, clothing, and essential items arrived in this city as part of a donation from Lamentin, Martinique, intended to support the population in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

Judith Laborieux, Deputy Mayor for Civil Security of Lamentin, explained that the shipment includes medicines, toiletries, and toys for children, some contributed by the local medical cooperation and others purchased thanks to financial donations made by Martinican citizens.

Yaneidis Hechavarría, President of the Municipal Defense Council, told the Cuban News Agency that this donation will help alleviate the complex situation facing the municipality, especially in the health sector.

The medicines will be distributed to healthcare institutions and, through them, will reach the population directly.

Hechavarría thanked them for the gesture of solidarity and extended a message of congratulations to the people of Martinique, highlighting that their support constitutes a demonstration of brotherhood and cooperation during difficult times for Santiago de Cuba. (Source: ACN)
