Define Party Plenary in Matanzas commitments for 2026

Havana, January 23.- The Extraordinary Plenary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC, for its acronym in Spanish) in Matanzas conducted a self-critical analysis of the results from 2025 and defined work strategies for 2026, with the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic.

The meeting also saw the presence of Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee. In the encounter, the main difficulties faced by the territory were evaluated and commitments were outline to tackle the challenges of the current year, in line with the agreements from the XI Plenary of the Central Committee held at the end of 2025, as reported by the PCC on its Facebook profile.

The sequence of extraordinary provincial plenaries began on January 7 in Pinar del Río and Artemisa, continued on the 8th in Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo, proceeded on the 9th in Granma and Holguín, and resumed on the 21st in Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara. It continued on January 22 in Cienfuegos and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, and is ongoing today in Matanzas as part of a national exercise to track the Party's priorities.

These meetings have reaffirmed the three essential pillars of political work: unity, anti-imperialism, and patriotism, emphasizing the need to quickly apply party agreements and strengthen revolutionary consciousness, based on the principle that the Party must be more demanding in achieving its objectives, ensuring discipline as a norm, without falling into extreme positions.

The debate spaces have served to reflect on the role of the membership in political and social leadership, as well as to evaluate the implementation of strategies linked to production, services, and the defense of sovereignty in accordance with national priorities. (Source: ACN)
