Prosecutor's Office reports on protocol against racial discrimination


Havana, Mar 11.- The Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Cuba established, through Resolution No. 16 of 2023, the Action Protocol for the Prevention and Confrontation of Racial Discrimination, according to a provision issued by the Attorney General of the Republic.

According to information released by the institution on its Facebook profile, the document establishes the manner in which prosecutors must proceed when addressing concerns, complaints, petitions, and reports related to acts of racial discrimination, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic and the NationalProgram against Racism and Racial Discrimination approved by the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers.

The regulation is based on Article 156 of the Constitution, which regulates the fundamental mission of the Attorney General's Office, and on Law No. 160, which defines the guiding principles of the body's activities.

It also incorporates provisions contained in Resolution No. 2 of 2022 of the Attorney General of the Republic, regarding the procedure for handling and processing complaints, petitions, and reports from individuals at the Prosecutor's Office, as well as Resolution No. 3 of 2022, concerning the work of the prosecutor in family protection processes and jurisdictional matters.

The protocol further includes the provisions of Resolution No. 5 of 2022, which regulates the procedure for controlling legality in penitentiary establishments, with the purpose of guaranteeing the protection of citizens' rights. (ACN) (Photo: Takenfromthe Internet)
