iPhone Jony Ive, OpenAI, device, secret, The Wall Street Journal, advances

Moscow, May 24th. - iPhone designer Jony Ive and OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman have begun sharing clues about the enigmatic device they have been working on in secret, reports The Wall Street Journal, which gained access to the recording of the meeting at which senior executives presented certain advances.

According to both, the product will be fully aware of the environment and life of the users, being at the same time discreet and compact enough to carry it in the pocket or put it on a desk. It is shaping up to be a third essential device, after the MacBook Pro and iPhone.

The newspaper had previously reported that the device will not be a cell phone, and that the goal of Ive and Altman is to take users away from the screens. Altman also ruled out that these are smart glasses, while Ive expressed his skepticism about designing something he wears.

Instead, they talk about a new design stream and a possible family of devices that profoundly integrate Apple's ecosystem-style hardware and software.

For months, Ive's team has been in contact with dealers able to organize supplies of the device on a large scale after its launch. Although Altman clarified that they will certainly not send 100 million devices on the first day, he said that his goal is to reach that figure faster than any other company achieved it with other launches in the history of technology.

The co-founder of OpenAI said the launch of the new device, which aims to mark a new milestone in human interaction with technology, is scheduled for the end of next year. (Text and photo: RT)
