Washington, May 30.—The United States government is redoubling its efforts today to fulfill President Donald Trump's agenda of mass deportations, increasing federal personnel and resources to accomplish this goal.
According to plans, the administration aims to triple the number of daily immigration arrests, indicating a renewed drive to go much further, according to local media reports.
Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff in the Executive Mansion, told Fox News on Wednesday that the government is pressuring Immigration and Customs Control Service to make "a minimum" of 3,000 arrests per day, something unprecedented in the application of immigration law.
The following day, in another interview with CBS News, the Executive Mansion's "border czar," Tom Homan, confirmed that he wants to "drastically increase" arrests and argued that the goal of 3,000 apprehensions per day is achievable.
"The numbers are good... They're much better than the Biden administration's. But they're not enough," he said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is notifying more than 500 "sanctuary jurisdictions" across the United States that the Trump administration considers an obstacle to enforcing immigration laws.
DHS released a list of the jurisdictions yesterday and indicated that each will receive formal notification that the government has determined they are out of compliance and whether they are believed to be violating any federal criminal law.
For DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, "these sanctuary city politicians are endangering Americans and our police forces in order to protect criminal and violent illegal aliens." (Text and photo: PL)
