Camagüey’s U-23 baseball team will compete in Sancti Spíritus


Camagüey, Jun 13th. - The province's U-23 team is placed in Group C of the National Baseball Tournament, which grants two spots to the semifinal phase of the competition.

The "bulls of Camagüey" begin their competitive journey next Saturday and Sunday against the host Sancti Spíritus, and coach Carlos Ferié will surely use pitchers such as Rikelmi Odelín, Abraham Licea, Juan R. Lugo and Yonimiller Mendoza, among others already proven in the National Series.

In the other match for this team, Ciego de Ávila and Las Tunas will compete. These teams have performed well in this category, forcing the team from Agramont to showcase their best athletic abilities.

The announced competitive system includes two subseries of three matches against each team, scheduled for seven innings and starting at 10:00 a.m. in all cases.

A double header is played on Saturdays, with a rest period on Mondays.

It was established as a mandatory requirement that lineups must have at least one youth player and must appear at bat at least once.

No additions or deletions will be permitted, except for injuries or contracts in foreign leagues, and only if the roster ends with fewer than 25 players.

The structure of this qualifying period was as follows: Group A with Havana, Artemisa, Pinar del Río, and Isla de la Juventud; Group B with Matanzas, Mayabeque, Villa Clara, and Cienfuegos; and Group D with Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Granma, and Holguín.
