Images and testimonies honor Fidel Castro through literature

Havana, June 23 – The Fayad Jamís Bookstore in Havana is preparing its space today to present this Wednesday a text that combines images and testimonies of those who shared the honor of having lived moments with Fidel Castro.

This is the book Privileged of time. Memories of radio and television journalists, by Ovidio Cabrera and Irma Cáceres, where more than a hundred photographs and almost thirty testimonies appear, signed by journalists and technicians of the Cuban radio and television.

At the appointment, the authors and Norma Gálvez, director of Ediciones En Vivo, publishing house of the volume, will talk with the journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez about this literary proposal that recreates moments lived together with the Commander in Chief, both in Cuba and abroad.

According to its editors, the text can become a great teaching tool for new generations who will appreciate the extraordinary human qualities of Fidel Castro Ruz.

Ovidio Cabrera is the creator and founder of Cuban Television's news services, as well as the founder of Canal Caribe and Telesur. He directed the television news program for over a decade.

Awarded the 2012 José Martí National Prize for Journalism, Irma Cáceres has served as head of foreign correspondents at the Prensa Latina agency, commentator on the information system of Cuban Television and director of children’s and youth news in television, adds a note from the Cuban Book Institute.
