Gaza, July 22 – Since the beginning of the aggression against the Gaza Strip, more than 22,000 Israeli soldiers have been wounded, Channel 12 reported.
Of that number, at least 12,500 suffered physical injuries and more than 10,000 suffer from psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress.
The report highlighted the severity of the human casualties in the Tel Aviv army and the intensity of the fighting.
The data revealed that 33% of the injuries affected limbs, 13% involved the head, eyes, and ears, and 7% damaged the spine, neck, and back.
Reservists and permanent forces among the most affected
The analysis released indicated that 65% of the injured were from the reserve forces, 18% from the regular army, 10% from the police and security forces, and 7% from permanent duty personnel.
Women account for 7% of the total wounded, reflecting the extent of the military and psychological strain suffered by the occupation.
Serious shortage of officers and commanders in the ground forces
Serious Shortage of Officers and Commanders in the Ground Forces Meanwhile, the Hebrew daily Maariv revealed that there is a shortage of 300 officers in command positions within the ground forces, with a particular emphasis on the engineering corps, where platoon leaders and deactivation teams are lacking.
According to military analyst Avi Ashkenazi, the army faces serious difficulties in convincing qualified soldiers to enroll in the officer training course.
The size of the armed forces does not match the volume of their missions, with an estimated shortage of 7,500 uniformed personnel and 2,500 support personnel.
Loss of officers and increasing operational pressure
The army also acknowledged the loss of a significant number of officers and commanders during the confrontations.
Hundreds more were injured, including dozens who have yet to recover or return to combat duties.
Commanders of regular and reserve units warned that the officers crisis extends beyond platoon and company leaders.
The shortage now includes sub-commanders and battalion commanders, who face enormous operational pressures and increasingly complex conditions.
On July 21, Israeli media reported the death of one soldier and the injury of two others in a "security incident" inside the Gaza Strip. (Text and photo: Cubadebate)
