Camagüey, August 1st.- Milk production calculations in Camagüey indicate that the year 2025 will close with a deficit in the annual program and a deficit of more than one million liters compared to 2024, which was already a low figure, a trend that has continued in recent periods.
René Mola Valera, head of the collection department of the Dairy Company, stated that the province is experiencing a severe drought and cited the example of the northern zone of the territory with a lack of animal feed in the pastures.
Some of these issues, in addition to the theft and slaughter of cattle and the insufficient supply of water, are factors that were discussed during a recent tour of the country by the ANAP (National Association of Small Farmers), in which he participated, said Mola Varela.
Growth is positively influenced when other parameters such as reproduction and good management of the livestock are met. The truth is, in my opinion, the livestock culture has been lost, highlighted the young entrepreneur.
Further investigation is needed to delve deeper into the real causes that mark the decline.
Certain figures should be evaluated: out of the eight thousand 23 contracted producers, a total of three thousand 674 fail to meet the delivery plans, equivalent to 45.8 percent of the total, and of that volume, one thousand 49 do not maintain the contribution of one liter of milk or one pound of cheese. Where is it all going?, is the question. (Enrique Atiénzar Rivero/ Contributor of Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photo: Otilio Rivero Delgado/ Adelante Digital/ Archive)
