
Havana, November 5 - Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, today thanked the government of the Republic of India for the donation of humanitarian supplies for those affected in eastern Cuba by Hurricane Melissa.
"We thank #India for the donation of numerous supplies for those affected in eastern Cuba by Hurricane Melissa. Thank you, esteemed Dr. S. Jaishankar, for this noble gesture from the Indian government," the Cuban Foreign Minister expressed on social platform X.
Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, confirmed on the same social network that his country sent 20 tons of HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) materials for both Jamaica and Cuba, as part of its commitment to the countries of the Global South.
He detailed in his message that a flight of the Indian Air Force departed from New Delhi with a cargo that includes the Aarogya Maitri BHISHM Cube system, rehabilitation support items, food, essential goods, medicines, medical equipment, electrical generators, shelter materials, and hygiene kits.
"India stands in solidarity with its Global South partners in the face of such natural disasters and will provide assistance to its friends in recovery and reconstruction efforts," stated the Indian foreign minister in his message published on X. (Text and photo: ACN)
