Beijing, Dec. 11 - China sent a new donation today to support recovery efforts after Hurricane Melissa struck eastern Cuba.
A maritime shipment set sail with essential aid such as mattresses, roofing sheets, and solar lamps for the affected families, wrote Cuban Ambassador Alberto Blanco on his digital social networks.
Less than a month ago, China sent an air shipment of aid with food and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Melissa in Cuba.
At that time, Blanco expressed his gratitude for the country's solidarity during a meeting with directors of the International Center for Economic and Technological Exchange.
The Antillean nation has so far received aid to repair the damage caused by Melissa from nearly 30 countries across five continents, official sources recently reported.
After the hurricane, another amount of food and materials was received from UN agencies present on the island, which included items for repairing roofs, systems for drinking water and storage and other essential items.
Offers from Asia came from India, which donated a mobile field hospital and other resources, as well as from China, Vietnam, and Japan.
The Chinese government recently donated another 5,000 photovoltaic panel kits to Cuba for homes isolated in the easternmost part of the island.
Beijing and Havana celebrated the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
Furthermore, the shared future community between China and Cuba is the first established by the Asian giant with a Latin American country. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
